We would like to inform you that Moxa is going to make changes to Moxa Industrial Linux 3 of the UC-8200 Series.
These changes will be implemented on September 10, 2024.
Please review the details
below to determine how these changes will affect your products and/or operations.
What will change?
Operating System
Moxa Industrial Linux 3 (Debian 11) Upgrade:
- Updated MIL version from 3.1.1 to 3.1.2
- Applied a security patch for CVE-2024-1086
- Fixed an issue where /boot_device/p2 and /var/log failed to unmount properly during device shutdown.
- An important enhancement has been added in response to a change made in MIL 3.1.1 (MIL
3 image v1.1), dated May 10, 2024. The enhancement has successfully reduced the
extended shutdown time by 25 seconds.
Specific Change in MIL 3.1.1 (image v1.1) :- The following statement was included in the MIL 3.1.1(image v1.1) release notes and is provided here for reference:
"Adjust the power sequence for the Telit LE910C4 modem to address a rare issue where the modem could enter protected mode due to excessively rapid shutdowns. This change will extend the shutdown time for the UC-8200 series devices with built-in cellular connectivity (UC-8220-T-LX-EU, UC-8220-T-LX-US, UC-8220-T-LX-AP) by 25s. If a shorter shutdown time is critical for your application, you may want to refrain from applying this update. We are collaborating with Telit to develop a faster power sequence that will reduce device shutdown times in the upcoming release."

Note:
- Product Revision is the Rev. number printed on the sticker of a Moxa Arm-based computer
- The MIL Version can be queried using the command mx-ver -M.
- The Image Version can be queried using the command mx-ver -v.
- After a successful update, the MIL version should be v3.1.2, and the Image version should be v1.2.
- The update to Moxa Industrial Linux may affect your software. We strongly recommend testing compatibility with your software before applying the update
When will the new versions be available?
- Moxa Industrial Linux 3.1.2 is available to download now. Update your UC-8200 with Moxa
Industrial Linux 3.x.x to 3.1.2 using the methods below:
- OTA update from APT software repositories. For instructions, please refer to How to Keep Moxa IIoT Gateway Software Up-to-date. Make sure to reboot the device after the update.
- Download and install OS image binary from the UC-8200 Series product website
- Order UC-8200 Series computers with Moxa Industrial Linux 3.1.2 pre-installed via Configure to
Order Service (CTOS) by choosing the model name UC-8200 (CTO)
