Die Embedded UC-8418-Computer verfügen über acht serielle RS-232/422/485-Ports, drei Ethernet-Ports, zwei CAN-Ports, zwölf digitale Eingangskanäle, zwölf digitale Ausgangskanäle, einen CompactFlash-Sockel und zwei USB 2.0-Server.

Der Computer verwendet die Intel XScale IXP435 RISC-CPU mit 533 MHz. Diese leistungsfähige Datenverarbeitungs-Engine unterstützt mehrere nützliche Kommunikationsfunktionen und erzeugen dabei wenig Abwärme. Das integrierte 16 MB NOR Flash-ROM und 256 MB SDRAM bieten Ihnen ausreichend Arbeitsspeicher zur direkten Ausführung Ihrer Anwendungssoftware auf dem UC-8410. Der 32 MB NAND Flash-Speicher kann zur zusätzlichen Datenspeicherung verwendet werden. Darüber hinaus bieten die 256 KB SRAM einen besseren Mechanismus zur Aufbewahrung von Daten, um Datenverluste zu vermeiden. Der UC-8418-Computer unterstützt acht serielle RS-232/422/485-Ports, digitale I/O-Kanäle drei LAN-Ports und zwei CANbus-Ports. Damit eignet sich dieses Gerät ideal als Kommunikationsplattform für industrielle Anwendungen, die Netzwerkredundanz erfordern.

Die UC-8418-Computer werden mit vorinstallierter Linux 2.6-Plattform ausgeliefert, um ein offenes Standardbetriebssystem für die Programmentwicklung bereitzustellen. Software, die für einen Desktop-PC geschrieben wurde, lässt sich mit einem gängigen Compiler einfach für die UC-8418-Plattform portieren. Hierzu muss kein Code angepasst werden. Damit ist der UC-8418 eine optimale Lösung für industrielle Anwendungen, jedoch mit minimalen Kosten und minimalem Aufwand.

Neben dem Standardmodell ist für den UC-8418 auch ein Modell mit einem erweiterten Betriebstemperaturbereich von -40 bis 75 °C für raue industrielle Umgebungen erhältlich.
